sweet escape

ever feel like a a black cloud is following you around?  my day has has been super cloudy with a chance of twisters, and I am not talking about the weather. wish I was hanging out at this happy place instead ( ice cream social as featured in the premiere issue of RUE magazine).
check out yet another ah- mazing online magazine, RUE,  honestly I am completely smitten.  View their 3rd issue here ( and be sure to browse their first and second issues here) .  oh and don't forget their blog, equally gorgeous.  RUE deserves a second ( and a third and fourth...) post which I will be sure to do once I get my steam back.  in the meantime  let's hope the skies above me clear up tomorrow.  til' then.....xoxo

mystery solved

close up of francesco clemente artwork on light at the hudson hotel

francesco clemente art from the movie great expectations

I can't stop thinking about the bedside lights I saw while staying at the phillipe starck designed hudson hotel in nyc earlier this month.  the primitive and almost transparent drawings on the lights reminded me so so much of the drawings done by the character finn in the movie great expectations. in doing a bit of research I just found out why. the very same artist francesco clemente created both, wow!

serendipity

wow, so I am about to head out to meet a friend for lunch at a spot in a part of town that I have never really checked out. the westside of atlanta is a hub of design resources, shopping, and super cool eateries {so as you might ask, what has taken me so long!?}
anyway to make a long story short, I was quickly checking designsponge who yesterday featured the home of two local atlanta designers Jon and Vivian Bencich of Square Feet Studio. after drooling over their lovely lovely home {check it out here} I visited their website.....and low and behold they designed the interior of the spot I am about to have lunch at, crazy!

so I am heading off to west egg cafe. here are some great shots of the cafe. I will fill you all in on the food when I get back, ciao!
follow up: it's even cuter in person!! a perfect spot to cozy up to a cup of coffee and linger on a cold foggy day. coffee and an egg and cheese {amazing} biscuit....all for $5.50!!! I think I am in love!

I heart this book

iggy peck architect, by andrea beaty and illustrated by david roberts, is one of the best books I have ever read. granted I first came across while babysitting, it truly is a book for everyone. the illustrations are very outside the box and the moral is pretty concise.....do what you love and love what you do! and check out iggy's mom, love her fashion sense! (click on the pages above to read the text)
and on while we are on the topic of gorgeous books.... check out this blog by the illustrator and pattern designer julia rothman, http://www.book-by-its-cover.com/ I love the concept and I could browse through her lists all day long. oh, and to pick up your own copy of iggy peck architect visit here. {makes a perfect gift!}

hope that your sunday is a happy one.
hopefully things are lining up for me this week. in the meantime here are a couple of super cute ways to decorate yourself and your walls in a straight up geometric way. I just love wallpaper- one day I hope to own a wall that I can plaster with the pattern of my choice. what about you?
dress above found here by funktional and wallpaper found here by nama rococo. and for a great listing of wallpaper resources check out this post from designspongeonline.com.
back tomorrow with a book post- see you then!
