I heart this book

iggy peck architect, by andrea beaty and illustrated by david roberts, is one of the best books I have ever read. granted I first came across while babysitting, it truly is a book for everyone. the illustrations are very outside the box and the moral is pretty concise.....do what you love and love what you do! and check out iggy's mom, love her fashion sense! (click on the pages above to read the text)
and on while we are on the topic of gorgeous books.... check out this blog by the illustrator and pattern designer julia rothman, http://www.book-by-its-cover.com/ I love the concept and I could browse through her lists all day long. oh, and to pick up your own copy of iggy peck architect visit here. {makes a perfect gift!}

dress above found here by funktional and wallpaper found here by nama rococo. and for a great listing of wallpaper resources check out this post from designspongeonline.com.
back tomorrow with a book post- see you then!

bubbles & bells

happy saturday! what are you up to? the sun has been shining on me all day! thank goodness for spring days like this that somehow creep into january. they are here perhaps to remind us of what is ahead and to give us strength to persevere! as my yoga teacher said last night....remember even if it is cloudy the sun is always shining somewhere.{and of course we have to look inward to our own light}

today I got my hair brightened up, washed my car by hand and am day-dreaming of a pair of bell bottoms for spring. enjoy your weekend!
these adorable bells can be yours right here at EmersonMade

winter blues be gone

let's take the color palette of this gorgeous ad from Chloe's Spring 2011 campaign as inspiration and pack our make believe bags for somewhere sunny...check it out below

ta-dah....make believe suitcase

love this shot of a tiny beach in Portugal, what I wouldn't give for an hour of sun soaking! This print can be yours here.

ps: I think I really am going to have to get those sunglasses, I can't stop thinking about them!

I think I could get used to this

I am a magazine junkie. the feeling of the glossy pages, the colorful spreads, the ads, the perfume scents that slowly seduce you with each flip of a page. I love magazines of all types, I even love catalogs and have been known to look through stacks and stacks when visiting others homes who are so lucky to receive every catalog under the sun. then comes MATCHBOOK a new concept, one which I have explored before but never really latched on to. the online magazine (gasp). no smooth pages to touch, no corners to dog-ear, the familiar of ink and floral fragrances completely absent.

but this one is different, check it out for yourself, right here www.matchbookmag.com (sorry I posted the wrong link earlier! oops!)

let me know what you think, I think it's something I could definitely get used to!

food for thought

whenever I need a bit of inspiration I always come back to the journals of sabrina ward harrison. lately I have been stuck between a rock and a hard place with my work situation. sabrina's collage above really hits home....get up, dress, wash, eat, work, undress, bath. we all tend to get into a groove which may not be positive or the most inspiring. we sometimes lose ourselves when we end up in a job that smothers our talent and muffles our creativity. I know that I am still searching for that piece of the puzzle.
if you haven't read any of her books/journals and need a bit of inspiration check her out here and also to purchase my favorite of her books, visit here.

if you haven't...you should

I received this for Christmas and I have to say I am hooked. I love the ritual....applying it just before bed. I love the blue bottle, the medicine dropper and oh my goodness the lavendar scent is amazing. your skin will thank you! Pick up your very own bottle or pass it on as a{perfect} gift right here at Kiehls.

ode to sweden

call me crazy, but there is not a shoe I find more sexy than a clog. seriously, have you ever walked in them? something about the wooden sole combined with the way you teeter ever so slightly to keep your balance. you can only imagine how crazy I am about the newest trend, the clog boot. I have to have a pair. check out my two favorite sites for these uber sexy swedish styles:

basta ( enough!)

january is simply stated, not my favorite month. it is right in the middle of fall and spring, and since I am not a fan of snow ( confirmed by my 11 months in colorado)- I have to day dream a bit to get through the lull. italy has been on my mind a lot lately. I have certainly had my heart ache for a person before but rarely a place. but italy you do it every time.....how I wish I could just close my eyes and wake up here....

if you would like to make this fantasy a reality ( lucky duck) visit here. I first encountered this gorgeous hotel built in 1964 by the famous italian architect Gio Ponti on one of my favorite blogs Remodista, right here

letting my mind wander

I just love this painting by artist Dale Frank. those colors make me think of spring.

sunday peace

sitting here listening to my 'angus and julia stone' station on pandora- it's about as dreamy as this brother and sister duo. burning my new l'occitane fleur de cherie candle. the orange blossom scent that is an ode to the white flowers that grow along the mediterranean is beyond intoxicating. I must mention it's a limited edition fragrance.....with that said run don't walk and get one for yourself! think of it as your new scent for the new year. what other scents do you like? i love rose, marine scents, coppertone and oscar after the rain......

feel the love

love this photograph by Max Wanger (www.maxwanger.com). I can’t quite put my finger on why other than it seems timeless, honest and maybe what we all want. I keep coming back to it. What about you?

so lovely(DEC 20th)

here it is….well this is someone else’s photo but identical to the amazing lamp I received today~ love. from what I have found online, it was produced by the Laurel Lamp Company in the 60’s or 70’s.

NEW AGAIN (DEC. 20th)

Today was a great day. J and I toured the thrift stores and vintage shops on Ponce de Leon then finished up with veggie plate the famed Eats restaurant. I ended up with a fabulous ivory faux fur coat- perfect for New Years ( which I did end up wearing, and felt super glam). And J gave me an early Christmas present. The Chrome and Cork lamp I have been dreaming about since our brief encounter at Scott’s Antique Market. It was on my mind today when we were browsing at the shop Scarlet loves Rhettro…and then just like that, there it was again, almost as if I had never let it go! It’s perfect and I love it, now all I need is the shade.

thanks J. I love how you support my vintage habit. You are the sweetest

absolute happiness = oscar in his new backyard
